Voted “Most likely to succeed” in high school, it is safe to say that Tiger Woods was surely destined for greatness at a young age.

In 1994, Tiger Woods graduated from Western High School. Woods went on to study at Stanford University and became a professional golfer in 1996. The future was bright for the young star, and he was determined to make a name for himself in the golfing world. 

Tiger’s passion for golf started at a young age. This passion preceded him to become one of the world’s most well-known golf players who have ever existed.

Golf was his passion at a young age, and his childhood dreams turned into reality.

Child Prodigy 

Before the world knew him as Tiger Woods, Eldrick Tont Woods was the young child of Kultida and Earl. 

His African American father and Thai mother welcomed their son into the world on December 30, 1975. Woods’ father began teaching him the game of golf. 

Tiger was a quick learner. At the age of 8, he made his television debut on Good Morning America and other tv shows alike.

As he aged, his talent became more apparent to others. It was only a matter of time until the world took notice of the young aspiring talent, Tiger Woods.

Road to Success 

“Tiger’s shown the kids a work ethic of how to get better at golf.” These are the words of Tigers’ high school golf coach, Don Crosby.

As a junior in high school, Woods won his first-ever Championship in 1991. This was the first major milestone for the 15-year-old. One of many, as he would soon find out.

A year later, he went on to play on the PGA Tour. These achievements were unprecedented for someone of his age.

Five years later, he would go on to win his first Masters Tournament. In 1997, at the age of 21, Tiger won the tournament by a record 12 strikes. 

This achievement made him the first African American man, as well as the youngest man to earn this victory.

This was only the beginning of his record-breaking career. Staying true to his high school golfing roots, Tiger continued to win 13 more majors. 

The Winnings

Tiger’s hard work was beginning to pay off as he took the golfing world by storm. He even had a term named after him, the ‘Tiger Slam’ due to his accomplishments.

With 18 World Golf Championships under his belt, Tiger Woods is the golf sensation of this generation. He also defended his PGA Tour title 24 times.

More success followed Tiger over the next 12 years as he was named the PGA Player of the Year 10 times. He is now tied with Sam Snead’s record of 82 PGA Tour wins.

Tiger has achieved a sensational 20 holes in one, with three of them being on the PGA Tour.

He also broke the record of Byron Nelson by making the cut in 142 consecutive events.

In 2019, Woods made a remarkable comeback. He won a major championship, the 2019 Masters. It was his first major win in 11 years.

Time did not seem to phase the golf talent. Tiger says that he “still gets chills” looking back on his long-awaited victory.

Tiger was also presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which recognized him as an exceptional contributor to the national interests of the United States.

High School Hero 

Tiger has come a long way since 1994, in Western High School. He remains one of the best in the game.

Woods shows that hard work and dedication really does pay off. His work ethic was evident at a young age.
